Twelve:
I am predominantly motivated by the portrayal of women through fashion and photographic imagery, challenging the sexualised stereotype of women, with a goal of understanding where this is rooted from and then how to approach this topic in my own work in a relevant and interesting way. In this project I wanted to celebrate the origins of the pin-up girl as a key example of where female beauty standards are rooted from with the goal of representing how the pin-up girl may be presented today. The outcome is my own pin-up girl calendar in tribute of the classic pin-up calendars from the 1950’s with a stylistic focus on old Hollywood glamour. Blending the visual aesthetic of Hollywood’s golden era with a contemporary twist as each model exists within their own virtual environment, that suits their character’s theme. The accompanying  fashion film travels through each of the 12 calendar months, where still images of the models are displayed in their unique virtual contexts, incorporating exciting transitions  and a specially commissioned sound track.
